Our Mission:

Provide City and County officials, departments, council members, other agencies, and the public with accurate and reliable geographic information through responsive and innovative GIS services.

Through a combined effort between Federal, State, and local contracts, the CRC is able to fund a comprehensive Regional GIS department that is available to all members of the council and the public. All consortium members have access to data and GIS products, such as the regional mapping application. Coastal Regional Commission Geographic Information System has served as a model for GIS development for the State of Georgia and is the primary database repository and administrative site for Coastal Georgia GIS data. The GIS department maintains and updates more than 300 digital data layers such as zoning, political boundaries, Land Use Planning Data, Address Data, TMDL Data, and street centerlines. Coastal Regional Commission Geographic Information System also provides custom GIS-based map development, applications development, data development, custom cartography, and GIS training. Digital and hard copy map requests by Commission staff, Council members, and the general public are provided for as well.

Services provided by the GIS Department include:

• Updating existing GIS layers, such as property parcels and zoning, on a continuous basis as changes occur
• Acquiring and developing new and useful data and GIS layers
• Promoting and assisting other County departments with potential GIS access and usage
• Serving as the lead agency for the regional data clearinghouse
• Establishing and promoting digital data development standards for geographic information
